Dr. John Henrik Clarke A Great and Mighty Walk

This video chronicles the life and times of the noted African-American historian, scholar and Pan-African activist John Henrik Clarke (1915-1998). Both a biography of Clarke himself and an overview of 5,000 years of African history, the film offers a provocative look at the past through the eyes of a leading proponent of an Afrocentric view of history. From ancient Egypt and Africa’s other great empires, Clarke moves through Mediterranean borrowings, the Atlantic slave trade, European colonization, the development of the Pan-African movement, and present-day African-American history.

Dr. John Henrik Clarke – I was suppose to be here early. The gave me another assignment. They did not pick me up to go to the assignment. I followed their instruction and waited at the hotel. I would love to be here when I can be more fully in depth on this subject. Because there’s a whole lot of illusions about Africans relation with people all around the world. There’s a whole lot of illusions about our relationship to religions in the world. And these belief systems that’s had it’s origins in Africa. All of them and there is no exception turned on African people. I said there is no exception.

And there’s one thing you have to get through your mind and keep it. Nothing that ever came from the European mind was meant to do anything but to facilitate European domination of the world. And I said there is no exception. Everything that was brought in to this continent. Everything. Every idea. Every so called religion was meant to dominate and control. The Arabs had no illusions about it. The European’s had no illusions about it. You are the one’s with the illusions. And yet every element that went into the making of every major religion in the world started in Africa.

Why is it that you are so naive that you let people redraft something that you have invented, send it back to you and enslave you through it? I’m saying that all organized present religions are male chauvinist murder cults. And I say there is no exception.

Why I wanted to be here earlier. I wanted to deal with our relationship with the people of the world and the fact that we created peaceful nations that had no word for jail because no one ever had gone to one. No word for old peoples home because had throne away grandma and grandpa. No word for orphanage. We did all of this and over half of all civilization was over before we knew that a European was in the world. Before he wore a shoe, lived in a house that had a window. And Africa has always and still is the prize for the whole world. We as a people have always been the worlds riches people, culturally rich, minerally rich. We have always been the prize because we have always had and still have some thing that other people want, think they can’t do without and don’t care to pay for, because we have always been the prize. We have been under siege for over three thousand years.

Nothing that’s every been brought into Africa from the outside was meant to do the African any good. That means all of the religions. Islam is the hand madden of Arab imperialism. Christianity was the hand madden of European imperialism. The Hebrew faith was the hand madden of the concept called the chosen people. Now if God is kind and if god is merciful and God has no step children he won’t choose one over the other. And to say he choose some people you’re making him a biggot. And to say he endorsed slavery of one people over the other you’re making him a accessory to murder. The Arabs used Islam to rationalize their slavery and their imperialism. The Europeans used Christianity to rationalize their slavery and imperialism.

Who are you kidding about friends in the world. Damn it. If yo want a friend. look in the mirror. Now there’s a billion people on the face of this earth. Why are you buying third grade junk from third grade people thinking you can’t make it. Why don’t you at least make a safety pin to hold your child’s diaper together? (Teach) Who has programmed your mind, and you thinking you can’t make a car? The first man that ever made a car never seen one previously. The Japanese bought cars bought locomotives broke them down and studied them. And had a Japanese technician produce each piece, put it together and had a much better tranny then the one they copied from. All knowledge in the world belongs to every body in the world.

Who has programmed our mind in assuming that we cannot run a nation, and run it well? The main thing imperialism did, slavery and imperialism. They removed African people from the respectory of history. And they tell them something they are still telling and all of the organized religions are guilty of this. I favor none of it because Africans did not need any of it. I’m saying the African belief systems probably understood is ten times better than Judism, Christianity and Islam. And better for the African. Now you might have some romance with one of these religions. I have no romance with any of them. I have a romance with reality and truth. And the chips can fall where they may after I tell it.

As for friends you have had no friends. When they discovered you they began to prey on you. Now let’s look at our relationship with western Asia, we mistakenly call the middle east. For three thousand years our greatest enemies came from western Asia. They were trying to avenge the fact that they were once African colonies. You read a book call When Egypt ruled the east and you’ll get some of the basic information on this.

Here, adequately presented for the first time in English, is the fascinating story of a splendid culture that flourished thirty-five hundred years ago in the empire on the Nile: kings and conquests, gods and heroes, beautiful art, sculpture, poetry, architecture.

Significant archaeological discoveries are constantly being made in Egypt. In this revision Professor Steele has rewritten whole chapters on the basis of these new finds and offers several new conclusions to age-old problems.

Now the first visitors to Africa came in the 1700s BC. These were the people who would later be called Hebrews. Now black people are ticklish on this because black people think that everything in the Bible is true. I question the intelligence of everyone that thinks everything in the Bible is true or is suppose to be true. It’s allegory told, story’s told to illustrate a point at a time when there were very few people reading books. And most of what went into the making of the Bible is copied from Egyptian texts. Now if you want to get so dooy-eyed over the Bible which is a carbon copy of a carbon copy why don’t you go back and read the original Egyptian text. Then you see where all these stories started from. Where the story of Exodus started from. Now you get so dooy-eyed you actually think there was an exodus. These people walked in to Africa. Why could they walk out? Why did they have to go by sea? What does he have to par? If you read Egyptian literature you will see the whole story of somebody parting the sea started about three thousand years before the Hebrew entered…in fact …Hebrew entered from western Asia. Now lets get one thing straight because black people are confused about all religions. Now I’m not against any religion, I’m a very spiritual human being. I just don’t need a priest to repeat some ten commandments to me when he is a back slider going with some sister some other mans wife. I’m intelligent enough to pick from the ten commandment which…commandments anyway. ..Missions of purity at the great school of Luxur. Luxur the great African training school.

Alright now. Lets get into this western Asia, I’m saying that the people who came from western Asia … did not have any Hebrew faith when the came into Africa and there’s no record of Hebrew faith Why is it that when the left African in the so called Exodus they had all three, African culture, and African religion, and African language. Now look at the origin of the so called people you refer to as Jews. You’re mistaken using that reference because that word Jew is of European origin. And the people in Europe who call themselves by that name have no relationship to the Biblical people of the Hebrew faith. And I’m saying that the people that we call Jews entered world history without visiting Africa. And when Africa was invaded 1675 b.c. instead of joining the Africans benefiting and save them from starvation they joined the enemy’s of Africa. No one has ever returned any favors to us. As a people we have always be hospitable to strangers. Mostly the wrong strangers. And what we have to understand now in this period of brain washing is that there is no European answer for African problems. Either Africans find a solution to African problems or there is not solution. And if you don’t find a solution soon you go back into slavery.

We have to stop all of this non-sense about who belongs to what religion when all of them were imposed on us in the first place. We stop all this fighting between Muslims and Christians. When neither one of the religions are doing them any good or moving them toward independence. All of them are hand maddens of congress. All of them are religions of congress. We were naive when we except their interpretation of something we had all along. I’m saying we need to take a good look at ourselves. I’m not talking about burning churches. I’m not talking about getting rid of religions. Understand me well. I am saying that every single thing that touches your life religious, socially and politically must be an instrument of your liberation or you must throw it into the ash can of history.

Develop a liberation Islam. And if you develop a liberation Islam you have to turn on the supreme slave traders who were in the slave trade a thousand years before the European, the Arab. And most brothers who think their Muslim are merely Arabists. Forerunners vanguards of propaganda. The Arabs are not above joining with the Jews against black people. And in fact they are already doing it in Detroit. And they are already doing it in real estate. You’ve got some dooey eyed thing that you got a friend. I still ask you to look at that mirror. And if nothing is staring back at you that’s friendly then you got no friend.

Alright, I’m saying something what you need to reconsider. I’m saying that everything that came in to African every people that came into Africa did not come to do Africa any good. Everyone every religion every people that came into Africa declared war on African cultures. They began the bastardization of African people. Created a confused mulato that didn’t know whether to be loyal to his mothers people or his fathers people. That confusion is still here. The fascination for the color of the conqueror and the fascination to go to bed with the conqueror. Now that’s wrong and mean. But it’s true.

Now, sometime ago, a north African leader kadafi was sending some libyans to study in Europe. And he told them what any good nationalist would tell students going to study. I’m not sending you to Europe to find a wife. I’m sending you to Europe to gain the technology to come back and make Libya a strong nation. A strong Islamic nation. And a strong Arab nation. And you cannot achieve any of this between the legs of a European woman. When is somebody going to get strong enough to tell Africans going to school you gonna come back home and pair up with a sister. But if you want to pair up over there stay over there.

Now, the one thing we have to look at. Now, I’m sorry we are going to have to conclude on this because I left out a body of information. In the university I teach and entire course, semester course on Africa relationship to other people. And I devote several semesters to Africa before Europe the consequences of the coming of the Greeks who stole a lot that they think is their culture. Stole a lot that you think is Greek philosophy. We’ve been the victims of propaganda. And yet if you read the Journal of African Civilization.

Other works. We have lived in Europe, Asia, we’ve lived in the Americas. The African people have already proved that they can get along with different people, amalgamate their culture with different people without one hint of a war between us. People who came into Africa immediately declared war on African culture, standards of beauty, standards of conduct. And changed the African concept of…so they can rule through them. This was true of the Greeks who began the bastardization of Africa. The western Asians had begun it three thousand years before that. The Romans. A bunch of well dressed thugs who could write well but couldn’t think who barrow practically everything. They laughed at the Africans concept. Christianity. The African was practicing it. Not giving it a name. This is why you don’t know nothing about the African origins of Christianity. This is why a whole lot of people Ben yak the African origins of the Major Western Religions.

Black Man of the Nile Paperback – November 22, 1996
by Yosef ben-Jochannan (Author)

Black Man of the Nile and His Family, first published is 1972, in Dr. Ben’s best known work. It captures much of the substance of his early research on ancient African. In a masterful and unique manner, Dr. Ben uses Black Man of the Nile to challenge and expose “Europeanized” African history. He points up distortion after distortion made in the long record of African contributions to world civilization. Once exposed, he attacks these distortions with a vengeance, providing a spellbinding corrective lesson in OurStory.

Dr. Be combines knowledge, wit, humor and social criticism to provide readers with an important and foundation history of Africa, written form a decisively African perspective.

Black Man of the Nile is reprinted in its entirety, along with a new selected bibliography and an extensive name and subject index.

by Alvin Boyd Kuhn (Author)

The pick that struck the Rosetta Stone in the loamy soil of the Nile delta in 1796 also struck a mighty blow at historical Christianity. For it released the voice of a long-voiceless past to refute nearly every one of Christianity’s historical claims with a withering negative. The cryptic literature of old Egypt, sealed in silence when Christianity took its rise, but haunting it like a taunting specter after the third century, now stalks forth like a living ghost out of the tomb to point its long finger of accusation at a faith that has too long thriven on falsity. For that literature now rises out of oblivion to proclaim the true source of every doctrine of Christianity as Egyptian, the product and heritage of a remote past. The translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Pyramid Texts, and the Book of Thoth lays on the table the irrefutable data which show that, far from being the first gleam of true light in a world previously benighted in heathenism, Christianity was but a poor and crippled orphan, appearing–after the third century—without evidence of its true parentage and sadly belying in its outward form the semblance of its real ancestral lineage. The books of old Egypt now unroll the sagas of wisdom which announce the inexorable truth that not a single doctrine, rite, tenet or usage in Christianity was a new contribution to world religion, but that every article and practice of that faith was a disfigured copy of ancient Egyptian systematism. Christianity, it proclaims, not only did not register a single advance in any line of wisdom or truth, but deplorably vitiated and disfigured the beautiful structure of religion which it ignorantly adopted and so wretchedly purveyed as its own alleged new creation. The shadow that pursued the faith with the semblance of outward similarity for sixteen centuries, now resolves into the substance of veridical proof of original identity. The entire body of Christian doctrinism is now seen to be nothing but revamped and terribly mutilated Egyptianism. – Taken from the preface

They shout out the third century. … John Jackson another radical black historian wrote “Man, God and Civilization”.

Man, God, and Civilization Paperback – April 1, 2001
by John G. Jackson (Author)

“Nearly all the so-called world histories and histories of civilization, so popular in contemporary adcademic circles, are based mainly on what is know as European civilization,” says John G. Jackson, “This species of parchialism gives a false picture of human history; and few students become aware of the fact that European Civilization, speaking historically, is a product of the recent past, and that European culture was not indegenous, but was derived from other civilizations of Africa and Asia.”

In setting history straight, the author has explored a wealth of ancient and classical as well as contemporary literature. From 276 sources, ranging from Diodorus Siculus and Herodotus to Robert Briffalt, Sir E. A. Budge, Charles Darwin, W. E. B. DuBois, Sir James George Frazer, Joseph McCabe, Lewis Henry Morgan, Bertrand Russell, Lewis Spence, and H. G. Wells, Jackson has drawn some soundly documented, often iconoclastic conclusions.

Man, God, and Civilization is a fascinating primer in geology, archaelogy, biology, and sociology, as well as a sophisticated anthropological study. To every student of man’s nature and history, it offers a wealth of controversial, provocative material derived from authorative sources and solid scholarship.

We let some of our great scholars die in hunger die wanting for friendship. Now having devoted a greater portion of my life to scholarship and teaching and obtaining information on African people, tried to make African people face reality. I have often said of what I wish for you to consider. I didn’t have to do it. I choose to do it. And if I had to do it over again I would do it better.

But I have a lot of talent other than the talent to teach and to research. I have never met a rich man who had a better mind than me. So if I wanted to succeed as a rich man I could of done that. I never met a crook who wasn’t a fool. I could have been a good crook if I choose to be a crook. I chose to be teacher of African history.

I chose to look in the bible where I could find my people I started looking for them in the world and I didn’t stop until I found them. And I know why they were left out of the Bible. I know why all the angels are white. You mean to tell me God is merciful God is kind. And not one little brown or black angel sneaked in to heaven? I ain’t buying that. Now the Bible that you get so Dooey eyed over is one of the greatest pieces of propaganda ever written. It you want to read the Bible, why don’t you read the Bible one day and read Mein kampf the next day and see the comparison.

Mein Kampf Paperback unabridged edition [full whole uncut complete] – March 23, 2016 by Adolf Hitler (Author)

This translation is considered as the most accurate English translation/edition of the original Mein Kampf (German) by Adolf Hitler. And it has the popular Eagle on the top of cover just like the original Mein Kampf (First German Edition, Complete volumes, Golden Embossed Eagle). This edition is the only German government funded and recognized version of Adolf Hitler’s popular Mein Kampf (popularly known as My Struggle in English). James Murphy was invited by the NAZI Propaganda Ministry to translate the book in English so that the NAZI propaganda and vision can be disseminated in the English speaking countries too. This edition has both the volumes and is the James Murphy’s original translation that you are viewing right now! Mein Kampf was originally published in two volumes. Adolf Hitler started dictating Mein Kampf to Rudolf Hess when he was imprisoned in Festungshaft against the Beer Hall Putsch, a failed attempt of coup. One of the earliest translation was by James Murphy that received official recognition by the Third Reich. Actually James Murphy’s translation was officially funded by the NAZI party ruling in Germany in a time/era which they called The Third Reich. However later when James Murphy isolated himself from NAZI ideology and chanted negative remarks and comments that were against the NAZI party and rule he was told by the NAZI Propaganda ministry to leave German soil immediately. He sent his wife later to Germany so that his original notes can be retaken. He completed his translation with the help of these notes. Initially Hitler was naming his book “Viereinhalb Jahre (des Kampfes) gegen Lüge, Dummheit und Feigheit” or in English “Four and a Half Years (of Struggle) Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice”. However he accepted the suggestion of Mein Kampf by Max Amann who was the publisher of Hitler’s book(s). He was so passionate about his thoughts and ideas that he predicted that book will be an instant bestseller and will do for all the expenses of NAZI party in the future. The book was not an instant success as per the records of sales until the year 1931 up to 1933 when Hitler won Chancellorship in Germany. A surge in the sales could be seen thereafter when Hitler already had started distancing himself from his first literary creation, his autobiography, Mein Kampf. He was so submerged and preoccupied with his new status that he started to call it a mistake to write such book that he called “fantasy behind the bars”. The tax accrued for Mein Kampf was about 405,500 Reichsmark (About $1.5 Million in 2015) at the time he took up Chancellorship of Germany when his tax debts were written off. By the time he had completed his first year as the chancellor of the Germany Mein Kampf had became an essential component of German social life. People are using the then Legendary book “Mein Kampf” for gifts, homage, education and for whatever, whenever possible. And by the time the WORLD WAR II ended the sales of Mein Kampf in Germany alone was toughing 10 Million mark. The book was running in top selling list for over a decade competing neck to neck and sometimes lagging behind the Bible. Writing a book to disseminate his ideas concerning Nazism or Fascism had been important for Adolf Hitler until he finally reached his goal of Chancellorship. However, when the first book of two volumes, could not help him much in gaining ground in German politics he wrote his next book that was never published. Later in his last years, when the war was about to end, Adolf Hitler ordered his comrades to put the original manuscript in a locker under a shelter for Air Strikes. This book was an extension of NAZI viewpoints, ideas and propaganda. Hitler used his energy to further improve the NAZI ideology and engineer new components and enhance the former ones.

That’s hard on your mind. Because if you think you don’t have Christianity Islam or Judaism you don’t have spiritually. I’ve Got more spiritually after I put all of them down. And I’ve got more religion after I put all of them down.

Alright now, let me conclude something that has no conclusion. We have to look at the impact of Europeans on African all impacts have been negative. The Romans laughed at the early African Christians. Finally for political reasons they stopped killing Christian and became Christians. I’m saying the Europeans became Christians for political reasons as the Arab became Muslim for political reason as the so called Jews became Jewish people for political reasons. People use others for Political reasons and think we be so dooey eyed oh the truth.

If you look at indigenous African beliefs systems, if you look at the idea when Africans had no churches when these full came here this is the house of God and the Africans look at their church and say if God who made the wind the spring made the ocean wore and you tell me he can fit into a little thing you call a church. That is no house of God. And some had the common sense to move away from it and some had the common sense to put it down.

I’m saying that you’re closer to God when in the further away you get away from organized religions. Their all hand maddens of conquest. The Roman empire developed during the early periods of Christianity. Remember the Roman empire started in Africa. It rose in Africa. It fell in Africa. Alot of people need to stop reading some religious books and read some straight history, without fable, without supposition, without myth read straight history. Read the Mediterranean royal in ancient times. She’s a racist bigot. But her anthology is good. And it’s a good history of the European trying to move out of Europe into the Mediterranean to find something to eat to put on that…European food.

He has solved his problem at the expense of other people. The slave trade liberated Europe from the depressed economy they had created with the so called crusades and through the famines and the plagues. Europe always solves it’s problems by preying on people outside of Europe. They’re in a position right now that they have betrayed true socialism which was not of European origin in the first place. And some people are confused between Carl Marx and Groucho Marx. I think a lot of people are Groucho Marxism instead of Carl Marxism. Their funny people. And if you think that that system started in Europe, No system has humane as socialism could have started with a bunch of ice box people who prey on their brother for their breakfast.

A History of the Modern World (9th Edition) Subsequent Edition
by R. R. Palmer (Author), Joel Colton (Author), Lloyd Kramer (Author)

History of the Modern World is a careful, well-written narrative of major events from the late Middle Ages to the political and religious conflicts at the beginning of the twenty-first century. It offers a wide-ranging survey that helps readers understand both the complexities of great events (e.g., the French Revolution, the First World War, or the collapse of great imperial systems) and the importance of historical analysis. It also provides a careful summary of the modern political changes that have affected the social and cultural development of all modern cultures. Throughout the book’s lifetime, “A History of the Modern World” has been hailed as an elegantly written historical narrative, filled with analysis and balanced historical insights as well as its traditional attention to the processes of historical change, conflict, and political transformations. The tenth edition has been updated to include the clear maps, the survey of global economic connections, the chronologies, t

The history of the Modern World especially the early chapters. Now the evidence of Africans in the New World, the evidence of one thousand years of civilization before slavery, all of this I’m not discussing because there is no time. But when the Romans disgraced themselves in the management of Christianity they created a vacuum. Islam moved into that vacuum. The Africans thought that Islam would get the Romans to offer their back. They were right. Islam got the Romans off of there back and the Arabs jumped on their back and their still there, using Islam to justify it.

Now the African military man, because we are the greatest fighting machine on the face of the earth. If we ever discovered this people gonna start running. Under proper leadership proper inspiration proper equip the black man is the greatest human fighting machine God ever created if indeed God Created him. I think the Gods of African created him. Once you loose track of your heritage you lose track of your liberty in this world. The Europeans during the slave trade not only rid the African out of history they colonized history they colonized information about history. They colonized image. They colonized the image of God. Who told you Christ was white. He was born in that part of the world predominantly occupied by non European people. So you should not get into the argument about what is white. All you need to say was he a Greek? No. Was he a Roman? No. Well these were the only people partially white in the area at the time if you wasn’t a Greek if he wasn’t a Roman or other people we are talking about the shades of color. So far once you establish he was not a Roman not a Greek the conversation is over. How if somebody else want to argue about his shade well that thats their problem. and if you’ve got a problem with color then you’ve got a problem with your mother and your father. You have insulted your mother and your father if you don’t like what they gave you. I wear mine like a badge of honor. I dig it. I wear it well.

I’m saying in closing. And I am closing that what you have to do is take a holistic look not only at your position in the world but your potential in the world. You have to learn how to convert everything into an instrument of liberation or leave it alone. You have to realize there were no Greek fraternities and sororities until they were introduced to secret African societies. People get all dooey eyed over something that was imposed on them in order to control them without understanding that thats another imperial effort. See it bothers me and although I have good personal friends who are Muslim, not a single Muslim scholar have dealt with that one thousand years of African independence before slavery. And how the elvs for the north systematically destroyed all these nations.
